4 months ago, Producer Craig went out into the woods and collected the cones of a Blue Spruce Pine tree. Over the months, he dehydrated, cracked open, and harvested the seeds from the pine cones. Now, we have 100 tree seeds.
How does it work?
Currently, all 100 of our seeds are being cold stratified. This means they're being exposed to cold, moist conditions for a few weeks. Once germinated (the root grows), they will be transported into plastic pots and have your name written on the side. Once the Spruce have reached sapling age, about 1 metre high, they will be transported to an undisclosed location and returned to mother Earth.
These Blue Spruce will grow up to 12 metres tall once matured, and will feature its' famous blue hue upon the many, many pine needles. Once matured, over the course of one year, a singular Spruce tree will absorb up to 25kg of CO2, which is approximately the same amount produced by burning 10L of petrol, or flying 217 kilometres in a Boeing 737-400. |
